Paige’s Butterfly Run
Paige's Butterfly Run is an annual event in Syracuse, New York, raising funds for pediatric cancer research and patient programs at Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital. Founded in memory of Paige Yeomans Arnold, who passed away from leukemia in 1994, the event has raised nearly $5 million since 1997. The run features a 5K race, a 3K fun walk/run, and a "Caterpillar Crawl" for young children, with the next event set for June 7, 2025. In addition to the run, the organization hosts other fundraising events like Pedaling4Paige and Pajamarama to further support their mission.
The Challenge:
Paige’s Butterfly Run needed a new website to improve user experience, streamline event registration and donations, and better communicate its mission. The previous site had an outdated design, poor mobile responsiveness, and a cumbersome registration process, making it difficult for participants and donors to engage effectively. Additionally, limited content management capabilities made updates challenging, and the site didn’t fully reflect the organization’s impact and community-driven spirit. A new website was essential to enhance usability, boost participation, and align the digital presence with the organization’s mission and growth.
The Goals:
Gaber Marketing designed a new website for Paige’s Butterfly Run, significantly improving user experience, functionality, and engagement. The updated site features a modern, mobile-friendly design, making event registration and donations seamless across all devices. An intuitive navigation structure ensures participants can easily access race details, fundraising opportunities, and event updates. Improved backend capabilities allow for effortless content management, enabling the organization to keep information current and relevant. By aligning the website with the mission and energy of Paige’s Butterfly Run, Gaber helped enhance visibility, increase participation, and streamline supporter engagement, ultimately strengthening the organization’s impact.
What special considerations have to be in place when building a financial services website design?
Since this web design is for a credit union, financial organizations require additional rules and regulations. These industries have specific financial criteria mandated, such as heightened security, membership access controls, compliance, financial statements, and disclaimers for banking by federal guidelines. A financial services website must comply with the PCI-DSS, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act of 1999, ADA, and more. That means things like encrypting client information, the timing of electronic disclosures, announcements of APY(annual percentage yield), and other financial institution compliance issues and disclosures, to name just a few.

Gaber Marketing collaborated with Indie Kids, a local Syracuse small business, to organize and host a fundraiser event in support of Paige’s Butterfly Run. To maximize outreach and attendance, Gaber designed a compelling, visually engaging flyer that effectively promoted the event. They strategically distributed the flyer through digital and physical channels, ensuring it reached the right audience.
This initiative benefited Paige’s Butterfly Run by increasing community awareness, driving event participation, and generating additional funds to support pediatric cancer research and patient programs. By leveraging local business partnerships and professional marketing strategies, Gaber helped expand the fundraiser’s impact, strengthening Paige’s Butterfly Run’s presence and fostering greater community engagement.

Paige’s Butterfly Run needed greater visibility and community engagement, so Gaber Marketing stepped in to volunteer their expertise by producing a professional commercial for both broadcast and online distribution. The commercial was designed to capture the heart of the event, highlighting its mission, impact, and the importance of community participation. By leveraging compelling visuals, storytelling, and strategic messaging, the commercial effectively encouraged registrations, donations, and volunteer support. This initiative provided Paige’s Butterfly Run with a powerful promotional tool, increasing awareness and participation while strengthening its brand presence across multiple media platforms.
